Megan & Tyler; George Mason University

I first met Megan and Tyler in March and had the pleasure of going over all the details of their upcoming wedding.  I knew that we would have a great time when Megan told me that they would like to do their engagement session at the college they both went to, George Mason University.  I love photographing in new spaces and was totally up for the challenge.  Their idea was to take photos on the baseball field but we quickly had to change plans when we found out the field was locked!  So on to "Plan B" we went!  A nice walk around campus photographing in some of the spots that Megan and Tyler loved best.  Here are just a few of my favorite shots from our day!

This was one of the first spots we stopped to take some photos.  As you can see Megan and Tyler were already super comfortable in front of the camera which always makes for the best photos!

If you are familiar with any of my work you will know that I LIVE for snapping moments like this!  The moment when the camera is totally forgotten and the subjects are completely in the moment!  This has to be my favorite from Megan and Tyler's shoot.

I just couldn't leave out this picture of Megan and Tyler's adorable pooch!  He was so well-behaved and I just love his big speckled tongue in this photo.  It totally makes me laugh every time.

There's not really much to say about this photo other than it is totally perfect!  Perfect smiles, perfect embrace, perfect moment!

I am always up for any suggestions from my clients about poses they like.  This shot was an idea that Tyler had and I think it turned out super!

Thanks again Megan and Tyler!  Can't wait for the big day in September!!

Kelli

One of the perks of having a cousin who is a professional photographer is you get to have your picture taken whenever you want!  And one of the perks of being a professional photographer and having a super cute cousin is you get to dress her up and take her picture whenever you want!  So I'm proud to show off my lovely cousin Kelli in a few of my favorite pics from our impromptu prom dress portrait session!

I love this photo of Kelli!  It is so classic and her eyes just pop right off the page!  So pretty!

Prom dresses have come a long way since I was shopping for mine.  Kelli's was this awesome shade of purple and was just beautiful (it was more elaborate than some of the wedding dresses I have photographed!)

Love the little smirk and twinkle in her eyes (and the fact that she trying so hard not to laugh at me!)

This is one of my favorite from our session.  I love how the purples and greens just work so perfectly together.

Thanks Kelli for playing dress-up with me!

Emma Kay; Newborn Session

If you have read my last post "A Trip Down Memory Lane" then you will know that I was so happy to photograph my childhood friend Melanie's baby girl Emma this weekend.  Emma was just 2 weeks old for our newborn session but already full of personality (and adorable faces!!).  I had the hardest time choosing just 5 photos to share with you for this post, she is such a little cutie.  Here are just a few of my favorites of the precious Emma Kay!

I love love love this photo of little Emma in her cute little bonnet.  This outfit was actually one of Melanie's when she was first born and her Mom saved it all these for her.  What a super sweet and special gift!

Just look at how tiny those little feet are!!

It is so hard to get those little newborns to open their eyes even for a second but I am so happy that they look this adorable when they are sleeping.  Who needs to see their eyes when they such sweet little sleepy faces?

Even though Emma is brand new she is still full of expressions!  I love this little grin and look of total content.  Such a hard life being this cute!

And I was able to snap one quick of shot of Emma looking up at Mommy.  It was brief moment but still precious!

Congratulations Mel and Brian!  Emma is simply perfect!

A Trip Down Memory Lane

I had the amazing pleasure of photographing my childhood friend Melanie's baby girl Emma this weekend and it got me reminiscing about all the fun times I used to have with Mel.  We lived across the street from each other and probably played together daily!  And we've been lucky enough to see each other grow up too.  I was even at Melanie's wedding a couple years ago and had a blast!  Seeing Mel holding her baby girl Emma sparked memories of us carrying around our Cabbage Patch Kids.  So I started digging through some old photos and found some treasures of my time with Melanie!  Hope they put a smile on your face, I know they put one on mine!

I don't think much has changed in 26 years!  I'm still a brunette, Mel is still a blond.  I still love porch sitting and overalls and Mel still has that exact same smile and giggle!  It amazes me little things change over the years!

I think this is the closest Mel and I have ever gotten to a "Girls Gone Wild" photo!

Sometimes we even let my little brother Pat play with us!  Don't worry that beer can was empty, he just liked to hold on to it (we did have responsible parents, I promise!!)

I love this one of us all bundled up for a day in the snow.  And its super cute how Mel is standing on a snow mound to be tall enough to hug me.  I must have been one giant 4 year old!

Love ya Mel!  Thanks for always being my partner in crime!

Bessie's 90th Birthday Party

It's not often we get called upon to shoot a party (our lives are filled with chasing families and chasing brides around!!) but when the call came to shoot Bessie's 90th Birthday Bash we were so excited!  We had such a fun time celebrating this milestone with Bessie and her lovely family.  I was so taken aback by all the wonderfully loving and smiling faces and I can't imagine how great Bessie felt having all those people there to celebrate her life.  Here are just a few of my favorite photos from our day with Bessie!

The birthday girl!  Can you believe she is 90?!

I love this photo of Bessie.  She had a couple of special people arrive at her party that she had no idea were coming.   The look on her face when she saw them walking towards her was priceless!

Bessie and her 5 girls!  I'm sure this household was full of fun and laughter!

I love this shot of Bessie and all the little ones (all of her great grandchildren).  Look at all of those little cuties!

This is such a sweet moment.  I love the look of content on both of their faces!

Congratulations Bessie on 90 wonderful years!  Here's to another 10 years (and your face on a Smuckers Label!)

Caitlin & Justin Wedding; Dawes Arboretum

Time really does seem to fly because it feel like just yesterday that we were posting a blog entry from Caitlin and Justin's engagement session at Inniswood Metro Park.  And we were so excited to kick off our 2011 wedding season with their wedding at Dawes Arboretum.  Our day started at Cherry Valley Lodge where we photographed Caitlin and Justin getting ready and some beautiful outdoor shots in their lovely garden.  Then it was off to Japanese Garden at Dawes Arboretum for the wonderfully meaningful ceremony.  Caitlin and Justin had so many special little elements to their day that reminded them of their love for each other and their love for friends and family.  It was our pleasure to be a part of their special day.  Below are just a few of our favorite photos from our day together.

I knew when I snapped this photo of Caitlin that is was a good shot but I had no idea how amazing it would be.  Simply stunning!

I love this relaxed photo of Justin.  It is so natural and his slight smile is just perfect!

Both Caitlin & Justin's rings were just beautiful.  And I love how well all the elements of both rings go together.

Perfect photo to capture how much these two love each other.  It's one of those great moments where they have totally forgotten there are cameras present.

My all time favorite picture from this day. So elegant and timeless!

Congratulations Caitlin and Justin!
